FSL Rays lose in four-run ninth

ST. PETERSBURG -- Jeff Sparks walked in a run with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, and James Lira allowed a two-run single to Danny Haas as the Red Sox scored four runs in the ninth to beat the Rays 7-6.
Jose Velazquez had four hits for the Rays. It was the first time for Velazquez and the fourth time for the Rays.

- LAKELAND 5, TAMPA 3: The Yankees failed to capitalize on offensive chances to tie the score. Tampa reliever Adam Roller allowed no hits in 2 1/3 innings. Designated hitter Scott Kidd was 3-for-3, including a home run and three RBI for Tampa.
- ST. LUCIE 8, CLEARWATER 0: The host Phillies' lack of offense, as well as starting pitcher Ken Westmoreland allowing five earned runs in four innings, gave the Mets an easy win.
- JUPITER 10, DUNEDIN 2: Blue Jays pitchers gave up 15 hits. Joseph Casey got his sixth loss, pitching 3 2/3innings and allowing five earned runs.
