When a pitcher is throwing a simulated game, the Devil Rays usually get a left-hander and a right-hander to come early to the ballpark to serve as hitters. Usually, younger players are called on. As a rookie and a left-hander, Steve Cox has seen his share of simulated games. After lining several hits off Tony Saunders, Cox returned to the dugout with a request: "I think for every two hits I get in a simulated game, they should add one hit to my stats," Cox said.
