If you're rediscovering the '60s again for the first time, here are tips from Twist magazine on how to to achieve the hippie-chic look in your room:

  • Do the shag: Use faux-fur fabric to sew pillow shams, make a chair pad, or attach to a shelf or nightstand with a staple gun.

  • Screaming yellow, etc.: Tie-dye white sheets and pillow cases in acid hues of pink, orange and yellow. Use on the bed; make curtains; mix and match with other colors.

  • So totally: String together old vinyl records (what are these things?) and suspend them from the ceiling with colored yarn or string. For doors or windows, nothing beats a bead curtain.

  • Foam home: Group a number of small bulletin boards, or use one big one. Glue on sheets of Fun Foam (a thin, rubbery foam that comes in cool colors; check crafts stores). Deck with mementoes and treasures.

  • Flower power: Cut petal shapes out of Fun Foam and glue to a dresser.
