CHRISTMAS IN JULY CRAFT FAIR: Continues today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St., Clearwater. Hand-crafted home decor, furniture, clothing, candles, dolls, toys, country and folk art and more. Portion of admission proceeds benefit charity. $4 adults, under 12 free. Call 462-6778.

INTERNATIONAL FILM SERIES: The Gulf Coast Museum of Art, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo, shows Ran, Akira Kurosawa's re-telling of Shakespeare's King Lear, at 1 p.m. The film mixes Japanese history and Shakespeare's plot. Rated R (1985, 160 min.). Free. Call 518-6833.

CREATE A BOOK: Come view a variety of books that can be personalized with family and friend's names in the story line and enjoy the music of Tony Celi at 1:30 p.m. in the Princess Martha, 411 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg. WILDFLOWER WALK: Stroll through the winding trails of Boyd Hill Nature Park, 1101 Country Club Way S, St. Petersburg, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and be amazed at the ever-changing array of wildflowers indigenous to Florida. Park ranger leads they way and identifies the plants. Free. Call 893-7326.

WEDNESDAY

FREE FILMS: The Gulf Beaches Public Library, 200 Municipal Drive, Maderia Beach, shows two films, Mexico City and Guadalajara and Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, beginning at 2 p.m. Call 391-2828.

SACRED STEEL GUITAR: This program, based on an African American tradition that emerged in black churches in the 1930s, is performed by the Rev. Elton Noble at 7 p.m. in the Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. The technique, which has been adapted to many styles of music, is the perfect accompaniment to African sacred music. Program is a part of a weeklong exploration of Florida Folk life sponsored by the Florida Center for Teachers. Free. Call 893-7134.

THURSDAY

SURREAL SCIENCE: A slide lecture "Golden Numbers: Dali, Science and the Divine Mean" is presented by the Joan Kropf, curator of the permanent collection, at 6:30 p.m. in the Salvador Dali Museum, 1000 Third St. S, St. Petersburg. Kropf discusses the complex role science and mathematical proportions played in Dali's work during his Classical period (1941 to the 1970s). Free with museum admission (half price after 5 p.m.). SATURDAY

"IN THE GARDEN": The Pinellas County Extension Service, home of the Florida Botanical Gardens, 12175 125th St. N, Largo, holds a workshop from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on how to make a rain barrel to collect run off water from roofs to water plants. $20 includes all materials needed. Please make arrangements to transport the barrel. Reservations and advance payment required. Also, gather under the Tropical Pavilion in the tropical garden for a kids (5 and older) workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. Bob Shields, 4-H program assistantm, leads a program called Garden Art. Free. PATRON SAINT FESTIVAL: The Fiestas Patronales De Nuestros Pueblos, a Puerto Rican Patron Saint Festival, is held from noon to 8 p.m. in the England Brothers bandshell at 49th Street and 82nd Avenue, Pinellas Park. Every year each town in Puerto Rico celebrates the Patron Saint Festival to honor the town's saint. The day features music, dance, amusement rides, exhibits, arts and crafts and Spanish and international food booths. Admission free. Call 541-0700.

QUEEN OF FOLKABILLY: Nanci Griffith and the Blue Moon Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. in the Bayfront Center's Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg. Griffith's body of work includes some of country music's most enduring hits along with stirring original works including her newest release Clock Without Hands. $25-$50. Call 892-5767. BAY LESSONS: The Pier Aquariums Education Center at Spa Beach on the approach to The Pier offers a program at 10 a.m. Participants collect and examine sea water, learn how to test for salinity, temperature, turbidity and how to prevent stormwater run off from carrying harmful pollutants to Tampa Bay. Donations appreciated. Call 822-9520.

CLUB SATURDAY: Come out to the Northwest Recreation Center, 5801 22nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, from 8 to 11:30 p.m. for Club Saturday, a high-energy dance club with game gallery, theme party and more. Teens grades 6 through 8. $5. A TASCO teen program. Call 892-5060.
