    Night of crime: a timeline

    1. 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Oak Street and Florida Avenue. According to police, Maurice Thomas and Marcus Stewart, both 16, steal a 2000 gray Chevrolet Cavalier after hitting the driver, Jacob Plummer of Blanton, with a rock. He is dragged unconscious out of his car.

    2. 11:23 p.m., McDonald's, 6013 Martin Luther King Drive. Thomas Alderman of Riverview is attacked by three youths, including Thomas and Stewart, officials say. At gunpoint, they steal his red 1997 Chevy S10 pickup.

    3. Midnight, Red Roof Inn, 5001 U.S. 301. Officials say Thomas and Stewart try to rob the hotel and threaten an employee after she refuses to buzz them in.

    4. 12:39 a.m., 7007 N Nebraska Ave. A woman dropping off her children, aged 19 and 13, is approached by four youths. Officials say Thomas and Stewart rob the teenagers at gunpoint and steal the mother's 1993 maroon Chevrolet Lumina.

    5. 12:45 a.m., Antigua Hotel, 1106 E Hillsborough Ave. Officials say Thomas and Stewart try to rob the business. One of them sticks a long-barrelled gun through a slot in the security glass, but they flee after an 82-year-old night clerk collapses in fear.

    6. 12:59 a.m., Hungry Howie's, 2001 E Hillsborough Ave. Officials say Stewart points a shotgun at a 21-year-old employee just before closing. Store owner David Ford fires three shots, hitting Stewart twice. Stewart is treated and released to police custody.
