Flood warning

Flood is exciting the Tampa Bay area with its brooding hard rock filled with smart lyrics, superb musicianship and a big wallop of passion. The quartet has held its own sharing a stage with 3 Doors Down and at two Livestocks.

Lead singer extraordinaire Dewey Buxton wails when he needs to, whines when he needs to. He gets it right every time, like a star.

Flood's other weapon? Those three guys behind Buxton, who have the talent and chutzpah to play their hearts out, not bothered that it's always the dynamic guy up front who gets all the attention.

Flood performs with other local dynamos Ironic Daze, Second Day, Broadcast and Ten Second Drop, 8 p.m. Friday at the State Theater, 687 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. (727) 895-3045. Tickets are $5.
