Now in its second decade, Ann Reinking's Broadway Theatre Project is bigger than ever, with 145 students in this summer's edition. They come from all over the United States as well as Canada and Europe to study under the tutelage of Ben Vereen, pictured here with Reinking, Terrence Mann, James Naughton, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Gregory Hines, Julie Andrews and other Broadway pros. At the end of the three-week program, they put on a show, this year including numbers from Big Deal, Street Scene, Hair, Kiss Me, Kate and other musicals and plays. Performances are at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Tickets: $25. (813) 229-7827 or (800) 955-1045.

Jobsite Theater's first annual summer fundraiser brings back The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield at the Shimberg Playhouse. "The actors are unwilling to let any member of the audience have a bad time, and their simple joy is infectious," Times correspondent Peter Smith wrote in his review in March. David M. Jenkins, left, and Robert Ray Morgan are pictured here.

"Using every comedy idea from Julia Child impressions to rap versions of Othello, they are absolutely fearless and unending fun." The fundraiser begins at 7:30 p.m., with the play at 8:30. Tickets: $30. (813) 229-7827 or toll-free 1-800-955-1045.

In other theater, Stageworks' Briefs '01 features four short plays by Florida writers (Jolene Goldenthal, Keven Renken, C. Kreimendahl, Roger Martin) and one Chicago writer (Johnny Knight). The six-show run opens Friday at the performing arts hall, Hillsorough Community College, Ybor City. Tickets: $7-$12. (813) 251-8984.

In Sarasota, God's Man in Texas by David Rambo opens Tuesday at Florida Studio Theatre, continuing through Aug. 19. Tickets: $18-$26. (941) 366-9000.
