1. Planet of the Apes -- Tim Burton's version of the 1968 science fiction classic has been kept under wraps until the last minute, but it's a good bet in a mediocre summer movie season.

2. The Score -- The cast is all you need to know: Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Angela Bassett, Edward Norton. This isn't a movie; it's a hall of acting fame.

3. Legally Blonde -- Want to see a star rising? Check out Reese Witherspoon's perfectly measured performance in a comedy that would be nothing without her.

4. America's Sweethearts -- If it's summer, it's time for a Julia Roberts romantic comedy. She's the publicist coming between married movie stars (John Cusack, Catherine Zeta-Jones).

5. A.I. Artificial Intelligence -- Steven Spielberg's version of Stanley Kubrick's vision isn't perfect, but it's a worthwhile event for cinephiles. Great performance by Haley Joel Osment as a robotic Pinocchio.
