CLEARWATER -- Repairs to a 20-inch water line valve caused sediment to appear in the water of thousands of city residents this week, but officials insist the water is safe.
A contractor for the Water Division replaced the valve in the 1600 block of Palmetto Street on Tuesday. The line was flushed and water service was restored after a brief delay, but the repair caused sediment in the pipes to become dislodged. "The sediment level was not harmful and there was no outside contamination of the water supply," Water Superintendent Andy Neff said in a release.
