School Board candidate's condition improves to fairBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published July 29, 2000 CRYSTAL RIVER -- School Board candidate Virginia "Ginger" Bryant's condition was upgraded from serious to fair on Friday, said a spokeswoman for Shands at the University of Florida. Bryant, who is running for the District 2 seat against incumbent Carl Hansen, was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a severe headache and having difficulty speaking. Family members have said Bryant suffered bleeding in her brain and say the problem was not a stroke or any other kind of episode with long-lasting effects. Doctors, however, wanted to keep her in the hospital to complete tests and for observation. Relatives said Bryant expects to return to campaigning once she receives medical clearance. © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
