ARCHITECTURE: Sol J. Fleischman Jr. has been elected chairman of the board of the Hillsborough Education Foundation. Fleischman is president of FleischmanGarcia Architecture Planning Interior Design, Tampa, and has been on the board of the Hillsborough Education Foundation for more than eight years.

BANKING: John A. Acosta has been promoted to senior vice president and business banking sales manager for the west coast of Florida for AmSouth Bank, Clearwater. Acosta was the business banking sales manager for the Tampa Bay region.

SunTrust Bank, Tampa, announced the following promotions: Kathy James, senior vice president in marketing and sales; Marlon Decker, senior vice president of Indirect Lending; Jeffrey T. Dunn, John Jacoby and Barbara H. Zellmer, all to senior vice president; and Jill Wilkinson and Lara White, both to first vice president. James was marketing manager; Decker, Dunn, Jacoby and Zellmer were first vice presidents; Wilkinson and White were vice presidents.

CONSTRUCTION: Susie Nolan Marler has been named marketing manager for FishHawk Ranch and Covington Park, Hillsborough County. Marler was development coordinator for the Florida 2012 Olympic Bid Committee.

ENGINEERING: Angela Garland has been named secretary of the board of directors for the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers. Garland is a project manger for TEI Engineers & Planners, Tampa.

FINANCIAL: Adam Yalowich has been promoted to director in the north Florida practice for Deloitte & Touche, Tampa. Yalowich was a senior manager for the company's Orlando tax practice.

LEGAL:Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Villareal and Banker, Tampa, announced that Tracy Raffles Gunn and Charles Tyler Cone are recipients of the 2001 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. Gunn is a shareholder; Cone is an associate.

Lansing C. Scriven has been elected to the board of directors of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Scriven is in private practice in Tampa.

MANUFACTURING: Steven C. Meitzen was elected president of the Bay Area Manufactures Association. Meitzen is vice president of sales and marketing for Ven-Tel Plastics, Clearwater.

ORGANIZATIONS:The American Business Women's Association, Upper Pinellas Chapter, announced its officers for 2001-2002: Doris Lenardo, president; Cindy Rexroth, vice president; Merrilee Albright and Joyce Hall, co-secretaries; and Linda Woodend, treasurer.

PROFESSIONAL: Marianne Ferrari has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources and chief personnel officer for Tropicana Products Inc., Bradenton. Ferrari was vice president of compensation, benefits and organizational capability.

REAL ESTATE:Arvida Realty Services, Clearwater, announced the following appointments: Rosemary "Rosy" Messina, vice president e-business development; and Duane "D.J." Furgason, vice president Internet systems development. Messina was director of Internet development and marketing; Furgason was an Internet manager.

TECHNOLOGY: George Gordon has been named president and chief executive for Enporion, Tampa. Gordon was president and chief executive of, San Jose, Calif.
