Moms from throughout Pasco County are invited to take an important step toward furthering their education and improving their lives at the Second Annual Moms Back to School Night, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Marchman Technical Education Center in New Port Richey.
The event, sponsored by Healthy Families Pasco, offers information on a variety of programs at community colleges and universities as well as how to earn a high school equivalency diploma.
This year, representatives from Pasco-Hernando Community College, St. Petersburg Junior College, the University of South Florida and Webster College will be on hand. Also in attendance will be representatives from Youth and Family Alternatives' Child Care Resource and Referral program who will offer parents information on how to secure affordable child care.
Several GED scholarships have been donated and will be awarded to participants as door prizes along with school supplies and restaurant gift certificates. Refreshments will be served and advanced registration is not required. For information call Mary Sandvik at (727) 841-6202.
