D'Amico gets monthly honorBy Compiled from Times wires © St. Petersburg Times, published August 3, 2000 Jeff D'Amico was named the NL pitcher of the month Wednesday after going 5-0 with a 0.76 ERA in six starts for the Milwaukee Brewers. D'Amico, a former Northeast High star, pitched 472/3 innings in July and allowed 30 hits, walked 12 and struck out 20. The right-hander shut out Pittsburgh on July 19 and lowered his overall ERA to 1.81 in his comeback from two major shoulder operations. The Yankees' Roger Clemens won AL pitcher of the month after going 5-0 with a 1.91 ERA.
