Sheriff looks for link in 2 molestation cases

TOWN 'N COUNTRY -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the possible connection between two separate cases of reported child sexual abuse involving a 48-year-old Town 'N Country man.

On July 29, the parents of a 13-year-old girl told investigators their daughter reported being abused by the man, who is a neighbor, over a two-year period. According to her account, the contact, which included intercourse, took place while she visited his children. In the other case, which was reported on July 28, the parents of a 5-year-old girl said the man took the girl into a bedroom while she visited his house and molested her.

Homeowner groups' buildings broken into

TOWN 'N COUNTRY -- Two homeowner group buildings in the same area of Sheldon Road were burglarized between the night of July 26 and the morning of July 27, the Sheriff's Office said. In one incident, one or more suspects pried open exterior and interior doors to a single story building used as a clubhouse by the Meadowbrook Village Mobile Home Park at 8920 Sheldon Road. Between 8:30 p.m. and 7:20 a.m. on July 27 the office was ransacked and $200 was taken from a bank bag. In the other incident, one or more suspects pried open the exterior and interior doors of the Sheldon West Homeowners Association at 8910 Sheldon Road between 9 p.m. and 10:15 a.m. The filing cabinet was opened but nothing was stolen.

Perfume stolen from beauty outlet

CARROLLWOOD -- One or more suspects smashed open the front door of Buy Best Beauty Outlet at 14869 N Dale Mabry Highway between 6:30 p.m. July 29 and 6 a.m. July 30 and escaped with an unknown amount of women's perfume, the Sheriff's Office said.

Burglars take $12,000 worth of golf clubs

TAMPA PALMS -- Tampa Police are investigating a burglary that occurred last weekend at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club.

Sgt. R.J. Reynolds said officers were called to the private club on July 29 and found that $12,000 worth of golf clubs were missing. -- Compiled by Times staff writers Josh Zimmer and Michael Sandler
