SWIM CLUB: A year-round swim program is offered by the Bob Sierra Family YMCA, 4929 Northdale Blvd. The program provides a strong foundation for competitive swimming. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards of freestyle, 50 yards of backstroke and 25 yards of dolphin kick. The cost is $35 per session for facility members; program members can try a session for $56 before joining. For information, call (813) 962-3220.

WINE TASTING/DINNER: Tickets are now on sale for the 2001 Wine Tasting event presented by the Grapevine at Westchase. Tickets are $75 per person. The event will be held at the Westchase Golf Club, 11602 Westchase Golf Drive. A gourmet dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 served with Chalk Hill wines to complement each course. BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP: The American Cancer Society will sponsor a FACTors (Fighting Against Cancer Together) support group meeting from 10 a.m. to noon. The breast cancer education and support group will meet in the cafeteria at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, 12902 Magnolia Drive. COUNTY REDISTRICTING: The new Hillsborough County Commission districts will be the focus of the HTV22 series that will air throughout the month. County Commission chairwoman Pat Frank will discuss the redistricting map she authored that was adopted by the commission. That map expanded the eastern part of District 2 to include Plantation, but removed some neighborhoods around the University of South Florida. The series, Inside Hillsborough County, will feature Commissioner Frank and Mark Dickson, the county staff person in charge of the redistricting process, talking with producer Syl Farrell. TELESCOPE VIEWING: The Saunders Planetarium at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave., offers free telescope viewing after sunset on Saturdays, weather permitting. Also, a MOSI astronomer will provide private telescope tutoring, including walking you through the use of your telescope, teaching you how to use it more easily and helping you find interesting objects in the nighttime sky. The tutoring classes last about one hour. The fee is $30 for MOSI members, $45 for non-members. For information, call (813) 987-6100.

BUSINESS NETWORKING INTERNATIONAL: The next weekly breakfast meeting of the Carrollwood Chapter of Business Networking International will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Piccadilly Cafeteria, 11810 N Dale Mabry Highway. Steven Konsky of DeMario Chiropractic Center will speak on "It's Your Health" and Chris Stewart of Refurbished Office Furniture will speak on "Furniture -- Getting Your Money's Worth." FUN CLASS FOR DISABLED: The Bob Sierra Family YMCA, 4029 Northdale Blvd., will offer a special program for people ages 3 to 23 who are physically or mentally disabled. "Movement 'N Music," a 55-minute class, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays now through December. The class will include creative movement and games through music. Students will also have an opportunity to socialize with others while exercising, participating in teamwork and having fun. For information, call (813) 962-3220.

PUBLIC MEETING: Hillsborough County staffers will hold a public meeting to discuss traffic along Pentail Circle, near the intersection of Ehrlich Road. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Jimmie Keel Library, 2902 W Bearss Ave. A recommendation to the county commissioners on solving the problem will be based on this meeting. Wednesday

TAI CHI CHUAN CLASSES: LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone), an alternative collaborative learning group, will offer weekly tai chi chuan (long form tai chi) classes at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays now through October. Chris Reardon of Wah Lum Kung in New Port Richey will teach the classes at the Spirit of Life Unitarian Universalist Church, 18412 Burrell Road in Odessa. The cost is $25 per student per month. Other LIFE programs offered include weekly home school and alternative education support group meetings, a LIFE 4H club, weaving and traditional crafts. Children and adults of all ages are welcome. LIONS CLUB BINGO: The 4 L (Lutz, Land O'Lakes Lions) Club will sponsor bingo games every Wednesday and Friday at the Lions Den, 19002 First St. at Lutz-Lake Fern Road in Lutz. Games will begin with quarter bingo at 4 p.m. and early bird at 6:30 p.m. Regular bingo will start at 7:15 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds will go to charity. SEW SPECIAL: "Sew Special," the Tampa neighborhood group of the American Sewing Guild, will hold its regular monthly meeting at JoAnn etc, 12635 Citrus Park Plaza. There will be a social at 6 p.m. followed by a two-hour meeting and workshop beginning at 6:30. All sewers are invited to come help with the group's community charity project. Looking ahead

ROTARY CLUB: The New Tampa Rotary Club will host its weekly breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Aug. 10. The meeting will be held in the Palms Room at the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd. There will be no speaker. Committee meetings and reports are planned for this Club Assembly meeting. Membership is open to professional and business men and women who live or work in the New Tampa area. MODULAR RAILROAD: The railroad hobbyists of the Twelve Oaks Modular Club will have its modular railroad set up at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 8401 W Hillsborough Ave. Running hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10-12.
