Valrico woman charged with DUI hit and runBy Times staff writer
© St. Petersburg Times, TAMPA -- Hillsborough sheriff's deputies charged a driver Friday with hitting a bicyclist and driving away, leaving the injured victim by the side of the road. The bicyclist, 19-year-old Stacy Lee Urbina of 12941 Simpson Road in Dover, was in critical condition Friday at Tampa General Hospital. The driver, 42-year-old Ann B. Baron of 1606 Powder Ridge Drive in Valrico, has been charged with DUI involving serious injury and leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries. She left the Orient Road Jail after posting a $6,000 bail, according to jail records. Baron's blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.088, slightly above 0.08, at which the state presumes a driver is impaired. Baron was southbound in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee on McIntosh Road when she struck Urbina about 12:10 a.m. Friday, sheriff's spokesman Lt. Rod Reder said. The impact threw Urbina onto the hood, windshield and roof of the Jeep, Reder said, but Baron didn't stop. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
