Unity Day Committee plans one-hour prayer breakfast

The 2001 Unity Day Committee of New Hope Baptist Church, 2120 19th St. S, St. Petersburg, will hold its annual prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. Aug. 11. Prayers for the universal church and community will be offered during the hourlong gathering.

Prayer walks will take place at Pass-a-Grille church

Pass-a-Grille Community Church, 107 16th Ave., St. Pete Beach, will hold a new series of prayer walks beginning 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The session will feature a walking meditation along the church's labyrinth, an outdoor "path of prayer," under the guidance of the Rev. Emily Bell and other church members. Call the church at 360-5508 for further information.

Garden Crest Presbyterian needs musicians, singers

Garden Crest Presbyterian Church, 5901 Ninth Ave. N, is looking for volunteer musicians and singers to help expand its music program for the traditional choir, contemporary praise band, children's church, kids' choir and Coffee House Nites. The first Coffee House Nite will be 7 to 9:30 p.m on Aug. 18. The children's church will begin in the fall.

Victory over Violence celebration is free

Victory over Violence, a celebration of peace, will be held at the Palladium Theater, at 253 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26. The event, an educational event designed to promote community awareness and dialogue among youth, families and schools, is free. Call 215-3210.
