Hill set to play in charity game

ORLANDO -- Grant Hill will test his injured left ankle Aug. 24 in the inaugural Duke all-star charity game, an event he helped plan.

Hill missed all but four games last season after signing a seven-year, $93-million contract with the Magic last summer.

Hill had a second operation in January after continuing to feel pain in the ankle following his first operation in April 2000.

Magic officials are aware of the charity game. Team spokesman Joel Glass said if Hill says he is ready to play, the team approves.

Also, the Magic's preseason schedule was finalized and the team will make its preseason debut Oct. 10 against rival Miami in Orlando.

The Magic hosts Charlotte on Oct. 17, Houston Oct. 19 and Atlanta Oct. 25. All four home games are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Orlando faces the Hawks Oct. 14 in the Ice Palace at Tampa. The Hawks officially will be the home team for the game.

The Magic will play two road games at neutral sites, highlighted by an Oct. 21 trip to Mexico City to play the Los Angeles Clippers. The Magic faces the Hornets Oct. 12.

Orlando opens the regular season Oct. 30 at home against Toronto.

CAVALIERS: Forwards Tyrone Hill and Jumaine Jones were acquired from Philadelphia for forwards Matt Harpring, Cedric Henderson and Robert Traylor.

CELTICS: Forward Roshown McLeod and a first-round pick were acquired from the 76ers for forward Jerome Moiso.

76ERS: New Jersey's offer for center Todd MacCulloch will not be matched. MacCulloch, a restricted free agent, was a backup last season. He signed an offer sheet with the Nets two weeks ago. The six-year contract will pay MacCulloch $4.2-million this season as a mid-level salary cap exception. His salary would jump about 10 percent each year, reaching about $6.8-million in 2007. ... Allen Iverson and Tawanna Turner were married at the Mansion in Voorhees Township, according to broadcast reports.

SPURS: Centers Cherokee Parks and Amal McCaskill signed.

WIZARDS: Brendan Haywood, the first-round draft pick acquired from Orlando Wednesday, signed a three-year contract.
