Mike White made his start count, and got the Dunedin District 12 team off on the right foot at the Big League World Series in Easley, S.C.

White, the Countryside/St. Petersburg College standout, threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts for a 2-1 win over Southern California, the West Region champion, in the first game of the tournament.

Brian Banks provided the necessary offense, going 2-for-3, including the winning home run.

Greg Crawford of East Lake/PHCC went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Shawn Williams was 2-for-3.

Dunedin plays Indiana today at 3 and its third game will be Monday against host South Carolina at 8:45 p.m.
