Florida is still working on the details for its savings plan, but it already offers the Florida Prepaid College Program, which allows advance payment of tuition, fees and dormitory rental. The next enrollment period begins in October. More information is available at www.floridaprepaidcollege.com or by calling (800) 552-4723. Floridians also are eligible to participate in savings plans offered by other states. Here is a sampling of plans open to residents of any state:
