Capt. Steven M. Zubowicz, son of Sheila Zubowicz of Pinellas Park and the late Bob Zubowicz, received a superior performer award for his work during an operational readiness inspection at the Survival Recovery Center at 1st Fighter Wing, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.

Zubowicz led a team of 20 as deputy commander of the recovery center and directed the base's recovery actions after simulated attacks during the four-day exercise.

He left for Prince Sultan Air Force Base in Saudi Arabia after the exercise as headquarters section commander for the 363rd Air Expeditionary Wing. He will return to Langley at the conclusion of his deployment.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has announced that George R. Wiltshire of Indian Rocks Beach has achieved All-American status as a post commander. Wiltshire will be recognized at the 102nd annual VFW national convention Aug. 18-24 in Milwaukee by VFW Commander-in-Chief John F. Gwizdak.

Mark A. Stillwell, son of Carol and Pat Stillwell of Branford, formerly of Seminole, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He will attend electronics technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.

A 1999 graduate of Branford High School, Stillwell is the grandson of Jean and Phil Stillwell of Largo. He and his wife, Megan, have a 3-month-old daughter, Amber Marie.

Michael Psaledakis, son of Deborah Bartlett and Bob Trotter of Seminole, completed boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Academy in North Chicago, Ill. He has reported to the Naval Air Station at Pensacola for aviation electronics training.

Psaledakis attended Seminole High School and received his General Educational Development certificate in the Navy.
