THE GAME

WHERE: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg.

TV/RADIO: Ch. 32; WFLA-AM 970, WLCC-AM (Spanish). TICKETS: Available at Ticketmaster locations, Tropicana Field box office and Rays Dugout stores at West Shore Plaza, Brandon Town Center and BayWalk.

TODAY'S PROMOTION: One fan, one batter and one inning will be selected before the game. If the batter homers during the designated inning, the fan wins a car from Crown Auto.

THE PITCHERS

Jason Standridge

A starter in 98 minor-league games, Standridge (0-0, 0.00) will make his first in the majors since being recalled from Triple-A Durham on July 27. He has not allowed a run in two relief appearances for the Rays.

Roger Clemens

Clemens (15-1, 3.55) leads the AL in wins and has an 11-game winning streak. The right-hander, who is tied for the league lead with 154 strikeouts, is 4-1 in his career against the Rays.

OUTTA LEFTFIELD

The Rays have brought in so many new faces since the start of the season -- 13, to be exact -- that a team meeting was held before Wednesday's game to discuss procedure on road trips. Such meetings normally are held only during spring training.
