CLEARWATER -- Terri Schiavo's parents asked a Pinellas judge on Wednesday to let doctors evaluate their brain-damaged daughter before allowing her feeding tube to be removed.

Bob and Mary Schindler also requested Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer hold a hearing so they can provide evidence that Mrs. Schiavo should be examined.

Greer previously has denied such requests. It was not known when he might rule on the latest motion.

On Tuesday, Greer ordered the removal of Mrs. Schiavo's feeding tube on Aug. 28, more than a decade after the St. Petersburg woman's brain injury provoked an intense family feud. The family plans to appeal.

Mrs. Schiavo collapsed at her St. Petersburg home Feb. 25, 1990. Her heart stopped, and she was deprived of oxygen for five minutes.
