TAMPA -- What do beer and animals have in common?
Usually nothing -- except at Lowry Park's annual Wazoo!, where the sampling of beer, plus food and music, will help out some monkeys, bison, rhinos and lions.
Saturday night's Wazoo! includes an extensive beer list including 30 breweries and 100 varieties of beers and other brews, from Guiness and Beck's to Mike's Hard Lemonade and Newcastle.
Local restaurants, including Houlihan's, 3-Palms Grille, Cafe Creole, Fred Fleming's Famous Bar-B-Que, Edy's Ice Cream, Hops Restaurant Bar and Brewery and Lobster Town, will serve up samples of Tampa Bay area cuisine.
Local talent Wendy Rich and the Soul Shakers, who sing soul and blues with a Janis Joplin-style flair, will be on stage, along with reggae band Impulse and alternative rockers 2nd Day Broadcast.
The goal of this year's Wazoo! is to raise $50,000 for the feeding and care of the zoo's animals, says Heather Sitton, park representative.
You must be 21 to enjoy the festivities, and if you choose to be a designated driver, your ticket is only $7.
