Airline tickets up for grabs
By JORGE SANCHEZ
© St. Petersburg Times, INVERNESS -- A chance to win a drawing for air fare to one of five major cities will be part of the annual Taste of Citrus fundraising event. The "Hit The Road" sweepstakes will be Sept. 7 at the Historic Citrus County Courthouse. Airline tickets for trips to Honolulu, San Francisco, Montreal, Boston and New York will be given away. A $5 donation places the ticket in the drawing for a trip to one city, and a $20 donation places tickets in all five drawings. The sweepstakes is intended to help raise money for the Central Florida Community College Foundation, a fundraising arm of CFCC. It provides local scholarships for CFCC. The "Hit the Road" sweepstakes complements the annual Taste of Citrus fundraiser, which will be Oct. 28 at Crystal River Mall. On Sept. 7, Circuit Judge Patricia Thomas will draw five stubs to determine the winners. As each ticket stub is drawn, the winner will be allowed to choose from each remaining destination. Further rules of the "Hit The Road" sweepstakes are: All but the trip to New York are for approximately a week. The New York City trip is for three days. Only air fare is provided in the drawing. Each winning ticket will get two tickets to the destinations, valid for specific dates in the first of December. The dates are fixed. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. Tickets are available at all Citrus County Chambers of Commerce, with offices in Inverness, Crystal River and Homosassa Springs. All funds collected will be placed in the Taste of Citrus endowment with the Central Florida Community College Foundation to provide local scholarships. Also, tickets for the Taste of Citrus are on sale for $25 in advance and $20 if 10 or more are purchased at one time. Tickets at the door for Taste of Citrus will be $35.
