© St. Petersburg Times, EDC hopes lower prices draw more small business owners to barbecueCRYSTAL RIVER -- In an effort to draw more small business owners to its main annual fundraiser, the Economic Development Council has reduced ticket prices for this year's barbecue. Tickets bought up to one week before the Oct. 18 event will be $20. All other tickets will be $30. Last year tickets were $35 in advance and $40 at the door. "My thought is $20 will include more people who might not otherwise come," EDC member Dave Hutchins said at the group's meeting Thursday. For more information call the EDC at 795-2000. Crystal River man charged with DUI in March collision that injured threeCRYSTAL RIVER -- A Crystal River man who authorities said was driving in the wrong lane when he smashed head-on into a pickup truck earlier this year, seriously injuring himself and two people, has been charged with driving under the influence. James Reid Stemler, 32, of 100 Bayshore Drive, was being held at the Citrus County jail on two felony counts of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury and one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence with personal injury. According to an arrest report, Stemler crashed into the truck on Venable Street the night of March 30. He was not arrested that night because Citrus County Sheriff's deputies were awaiting the results of a blood-alcohol test. The test showed Stemler's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, the report said. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
