    Casual country

Down-to-earth entertainer Mary Chapin Carpenter, who recently released her eighth CD Time*Sex*Love, will bring her poetic folk and country alto sound to Ruth Eckerd Hall at 8 tonight. Known as a sincere, engaging on-the-road singer, the New Jersey-born Carpenter made fans out of listeners in the 1990s with such hits as I Feel Lucky, Not Too Much to Ask and Quittin' Time. Time*Sex*Love, Carpenter's first record in five years, has more of a pop flair. If you go, you'll probably hear Carpenter sing songs from it including What Was it Like, Going Home and King of Love. Ticket prices are $39.75-$60. Ruth Eckerd Hall is at 1111 McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater. For information, call (727) 791-7400.
