    Health care career in future? Call Explorers

    LARGO -- People 14 to 21 years old who are interested in learning more about health care careers are invited to an informal meeting of the Largo Medical Center's Explorers at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Largo Medical Center. Members of the Explorers meet regularly at the medical center, where they volunteer time and get hands-on experience shadowing employees. The Explorers also take part in community service projects and educational outings. Refreshments will be served and parents and friends are welcome to attend the hourlong meeting at 201 14th St. SW, Largo. For information, contact Explorer adviser Jason Blue at 809-1881.     Outreach series to help families cooperate

    LARGO -- Largo's Youth Outreach Program will host a Family Survivor series to help families build cooperative skills. More than 50 families will take part in a variety of events patterned after reality show contests. The program is looking for local businesses to sponsor contests for $200 each. The series will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Tri-Parks Outreach site at Immanuel Chapel, 7100 142nd Ave., Largo.
