Since returning to the rotation after Bryan Rekar went on the disabled list July 20, Wilson is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA. He got a no-decision despite pitching 51/3 scoreless innings against Chicago on Sunday.

Joe Mays

Mays (12-9, 3.23) has lost two straight and four of his past five starts. The right-hander has allowed seven runs and 19 hits over 142/3 innings against Toronto on July 31 and Kansas City on Aug. 5.

The temperature on the field at the start of the Padres-Phillies game on Thursday at Veterans Stadium was a sultry 148.7 degrees.
