BEARS: Rookie Dez White dropped his second long pass in two games Saturday, a 40-yarder that bounced off his outstretched hands. White landed hard after diving, spraining his shoulder. Trying to catch the ball with his hands rather than against his body, the mistake he made on the miss against the Giants, White slowed down as the ball approached. He misjudged slightly and was forced to dive to reach the ball. He had to be helped from the field after his injury and didn't return. ... Cornerback Thomas Smith was on crutches Sunday with his right knee in a brace after a deep thigh bruise that could keep him out of Saturday's game in Cincinnati. ... Defensive tackle Ken Anderson had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to be out for several weeks.

COWBOYS: Dallas is scheduled to log an NFL-high 31,020 air miles this season. The Tennessee Titans are on the other end with 8,498.

LIONS: Defensive tackle Henry Taylor (strained knee), running back James Stewart (groin contusion) and wide receiver Brian Stablein (mild knee sprain) were injured against Buffalo. ... Wide receiver Herman Moore (thigh) is expected to practice this week. ... Defensive tackle Luther Elliss (elbow) might play in the preseason finale at Cincinnati.

PANTHERS: Kicker John Kasay, the team's leading scorer every year since it joined the NFL, is expected to miss the season with a fractured left kneecap. The bone in the left-footed kicker's knee was broken nearly in half during a morning workout, coach George Seifert said. Kasay, a Pro Bowl player in 1996, was taken from training camp at Wofford College to Charlotte, N.C., for surgery. It was Kasay's second practice with the team since returning from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee. That injury came in a December game, and Seifert wasn't sure if the injuries are related. Sunday, Kasay was attempting a 30-yard field goal when, as his foot connected with the ball, he screamed: "Oh, no! No! Trainer! Trainer!" The ball squirted away off to the left. Kasay's injury is only the latest for the Panthers. Starting receiver Patrick Jeffers (knee) and backup safety Tony Booth (knee) and Deon Grant (fractured left hip) could be lost for the season.

SAINTS: Safety Darren Perry was arrested and charged with driving drunk after rear-ending a car less than two hours after returning from a preseason game at Indianapolis. Perry, 31, failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath-alcohol test, said Kenner (La.) police Lt. Steve Caraway. Perry also was charged with hit and run, and careless operation of a motor vehicle.
