Camp survivorBy Compiled by ROGER MILLS © St. Petersburg Times, published August 14, 2000 In the spirit of CBS' Survivor series, the Times is asking Bucs players and coaches whom they would throw off the island, er, out of camp, and why. Here's today's episode: Coach Tony Dungy kicks officials (or moderators) off the island. "I would have to kick them off ... because they wouldn't know the rules. We seem to know the rules better than them." Did you know?In high school, safety Damien Robinson was quite the basketball player. The 6-4, 214-pounder played for Hillcrest High in Dallas and averaged 17.5 points. He was recruited by several Division I-A programs but settled in as a defensive back at Iowa. Fresh facesNAME: Carl Bradley. HT./WT.: 6-2; 280. COLLEGE: Virginia Tech. POSITION: Defensive tackle. NFL EXPERIENCE: Rookie. CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Bradley twice won Tech's Ironman competition (1997 and 1998) but was unable to defend his title in his senior year. But that season he started 11 games, had 51 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 2 sacks, and made it all the way to the national championship game, where Tech lost to Florida State. GLORY DAYS: Bradley, playing offensive and defensive line at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, helped the team to a 32-8 record, four district titles and four regional crowns. He was also a standout wrestler at 260 pounds. BRUSH WITH GREATNESS: Bradley, in 11th grade, met the Bills' Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith. At the time, he was in awe. And now, after seeing them when the Bucs played the Dolphins and Redskins, respectively? "They seem just like all the other guys." TO MAKE THE TEAM: With Warren Sapp, Brad Culpepper and Anthony McFarland locked in, Bradley is going to have to beat out James Cannida, in his third year with the Bucs, Damonte McKenzie and Chartric Darby. QUOTE: "I try to make the most of every situation and that goes for on and off the field. So, when I get out there, I'm trying to do everything I can. Win at all costs."
