Focus on volunteers

United Methodist Cooperative Ministries, 3940 18th Ave. S, will hold volunteer training sessions Sept. 7-8 and Sept. 14-15. The organization needs volunteers to teach English to Southeast Asian refugees as part of the Southeast Asian Preschool in St. Petersburg. Volunteers also are needed to assist elementary school students with reading in after-school tutorial programs at Childs Park United Methodist Church. For information, call Donna Ratzlaff at 327-7018.

The Pinellas Braille Group will hold a volunteer orientation at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 at Temple Beth El, 400 Pasadena Ave. S, South Pasadena. The session will feature an overview of volunteer opportunities, including preparing voice tapes and reading and writing in Braille. The group also is looking for transcription typists. Pinellas County Rolling Readers is looking for volunteers to help children learn and love to read. Hours and locations are flexible. For information, call Tyeisha Lyons at 402-7323.
