Back-to-school event at John Hopkins Saturday

John Hopkins Middle School invites parents, students and community members to its annual back-to-school event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the school, 701 16th St. S.

The "Trojan Review" will offer visitors an opportunity to learn about school organizations and activities. School spirit items and refreshments will be on sale, free immunizations will be provided, and student schedules will be distributed.

Last year's event, which featured parent ambassadors, a video presentation and entertainment by the school's piano and steel drum students, was a regional winner in the Commissioner's Parent Involvement award competition. Principal Ed Baldwin accepted the award from Education Commissioner Charlie Crist at the PTA State Leadership Conference in July.

Call 893-2400 for more information on this year's event.
