An error in projected enrollment didn't just affect Jefferson's football team. The FHSAA on Monday announced new districts for its other sports, too.

An error in projected enrollment didn't just affect Jefferson's football team. The FHSAA on Monday announced new districts for its other sports, too.

Jefferson will be reassigned:

From Class A, District 9 to 4A-9 in baseball, girls basketball, boys basketball, softball and volleyball.

From A-6 to 2A-9 in girls and boys soccer.

From 2A-5 to 3A-4 in cross country.

From A-10 to 2A-9 in golf.

From A-6 to 2A-7 in swimming and diving.

From A-10 to 2A-7 in wrestling.

Enrollment figures submitted last fall projected Jefferson to have 790 students this year. After 1,340 were counted on the first day of school, the FHSAA was required by regulation to reassign the Dragons.

Jefferson officials are working to reschedule district games in girls and boys basketball, girls and boys soccer and volleyball.

If they are unsuccessful, the FHSAA said it will explore alternative methods of seeding the district tournaments in those sports.

Baseball and softball schedules will not be affected by the reassignment. The scheduling meetings for those sports will be held later this month.

District competition is not required in individual sports.
