Orlando rallies for win at home
ORLANDO -- Katie Douglas had 18 points as Orlando overcame a 13-point deficit to beat Indiana 78-72 Tuesday night on the last night of the regular season.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 13 points, and Elaine Powell finished with 11 for Orlando.
Rita Williams scored 18 for Indiana and Alicia Thompson had 17.
Indiana hit its first eight shots and pushed its lead to 26-13 on a jumper by Nadine Malcolm with 11:38 left in the first half.
Orlando countered with a 23-7 run and led 43-38 at halftime.
Indiana closed within two (70-68), on a free throw by Gordana Grubin with 4:15 remaining. But Douglas hit four straight free throws in the final 2:57 to seal the win for the Miracle.
NEW YORK 71, WASHINGTON 56: Crystal Robinson scored 15 as the host Liberty clinched second in the East.
The win gave the Liberty the homecourt advantage in the best-of-three playoff series which starts Friday night at Miami.
CHARLOTTE 48, MIAMI 41: Tammy Sutton-Brown and Andrea Stinson each scored eight to lead a balanced attack as visiting Charlotte extended its franchise-record winning streak to seven.
Miami's five-game winning streak was snapped.
Dawn Staley and Shalonda Enis each scored seven for the Sting, which will face the No. 1 seed Cleveland in the playoffs.
DETROIT 76, CLEVELAND 65: Elena Tornikidou scored 16 and the host Shock ended the season on a rare bright note, upsetting the Eastern Conference champion. With the victory, Detroit avoided being the only team in the league not to reach double figures in wins.
LOS ANGELES 67, PORTLAND 58: Mwadi Mabika scored 21 as the Sparks extended host Portland's losing streak to 10 games. The Sparks finished the regular season with the league's best record.
ROCKETS: Glen Rice's formal introduction was postponed while team doctors reviewed his medical records.
A foot injury forced Rice to repeatedly miss practice time last season with New York, and he told Houston TV station KRIV that he still has some pain "but I think I can play through it."
PACERS: The October preseason game against Atlanta, scheduled for the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, has been canceled. Coliseum officials said contractual obligations required by the Pacers were not met in time by an Atlanta-based promoter.
