Rollins Band rolls in
No, you're not imagining it. Every old-school American punk band from the early 1980s is in town this weekend. (Except Fear. Apparently, Fear didn't get the memo; the band is scheduled for next weekend.)
Ah, but who's the mightiest -- or, at least, the most famous guy from that era?
The one and only Henry Rollins.
Goodness gracious, what hasn't Ol' Hank, now 40, done? He was lead singer of legendary Black Flag. Then he morphed into some kind of ranting, raving junior Lenny Bruce, the "spoken word" guy who's ticked off at the establishment -- and by golly, he's gonna let 'em know it!
Rollins has been an author, publisher, record label exec, Hollywood actor, even a muscled, dimple-chinned Gap poster boy, which annoyed his old cronies who still believe in all that down-with-the-man and "Corporate Rock Still Sucks" jibber jabble.
This weekend finds Rollins back in the day job, yelping with the Rollins Band, a jazzy/punky band many critics say has never found its groove. But, geez, one guy can't be all things to all people.
Or -- can he?
