Kolesnikova at the keyboard
"Is that a famous person?" someone asked of Oksana Kolesnikova, who stopped by to have her picture taken and drop off her CD of classical standards, Oksana.
Well, not really, but the striking young pianist is working on it, giving in-store performances at Borders Books & Music and a string of concerts in the Tampa Bay area. She and her husband, Alessandro Concas, were married last summer at the Palladium Theatre, and after the rings were exchanged, she sat down at the piano to play her composition "dedicated to all people in love," The Voice of Life.
Kolesnikova, 23, born in Siberia and raised in Kazakhstan, came to the United States in 1993 with her family and settled in St. Petersburg. She recently graduated with a bachelor's degree from the school of music at Florida State University.
On Saturday, Kolesnikova, whose favorite composer is Rachmaninoff, will play a program of classics and her own works in concerts at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Royalty Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. Tickets are $10-$25.
VIP tickets for $60 and $100 to the evening concert also include a postperformance dinner at the nearby Las Ramblas restaurant plus entertainment by Ugo de Ambroglio, a Town 'N Country hairdresser who plays piano and accordion, singers Jill Rynearson and Forrest Loving, and Middle Eastern dancer Cherry. Call the theater at (727) 441-8868 or toll-free at 1-866-465-7262, or see the Web site, www.oksana-k.com.
