From Calvin to comedy
Bobby Collins, a former executive with Calvin Klein, got his start in standup at Catch a Rising Star. He quit his day job for a life of comedy and went on to open for acts including Julio Iglesias, Cher, Dolly Parton and Frank Sinatra.
On television, Collins has been a regular on HBO Comedy Showcase and replaced Rosie O'Donnell as host of VH1's Stand-Up Spotlight. (He was also the guy in the Certs commercial about "two mints in one.") Collins performs this weekend at Side Splitters Comedy Club, Cascades Plaza, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Shows are at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $16 and $18. Call (813) 960-1197.
