© St. Petersburg Times, INVERNESS PRIMARY SCHOOL ADVISORY ENHANCEMENT COUNCIL: The Inverness Primary Advisory Enhancement Council plays an important role in advising the principal on many school-related issues. The council is comprised of nine teachers, nine parents, six community members, three support staff members and three students, all of whom are elected, except the community members who are appointed by the principal, Mrs. Charles. All elected members are elected at large, except student members, who represent grades 4 and 5. Meetings are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month in the Professional Development Center of the school. An informational meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Professional Development Center. The first regularly scheduled meeting will be Sept. 17. To join the Inverness Primary Advisory Enhancement Council, contact the office for a nomination form, which must be turned in to the office by Aug. 24. SCIENCE FAIR MEETING FOR HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS: Citrus County home-school students interested in participating in the Citrus Home Educators Co-op Science Fair are invited to an informational meeting featuring Ben Stofcheck, Citrus County School District program specialist for mathematics and science, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Providence Baptist Church, 4471 W Sanction Road, Lecanto. Winners of the CHEC Science Fair will compete in the Citrus County Regional Science and Engineering Fair. For information, call Kimberly Miskiewicz at 746-0685. REAL ESTATE CLASSES: Central Florida Community College and the Citrus County Realtors Association have developed a partnership to provide real estate classes offered by the Realtors Institute of Citrus County. This fall term, two courses are scheduled at the Realtors Association office, 1619 W Gulf to Lake Highway (State Road 44) in Lecanto. Real Estate Principles and Practices will meet weekdays and Saturdays Sept. 5-29 and costs $225, books included. The course is designed for people who are seeking real estate sales certification with the Florida Real Estate Commission. Principles and Practices II will meet weekdays and Saturdays Oct. 29-Nov. 2 for students who want to sit for the state broker's examination. It costs $325, books included. Specific course times are available at the CFCC Citrus County Campus, 3800 S Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. Students may also register there prior to the start of classes. HOME EDUCATORS MEETING: Citrus Christian Home Educators Association, a support group for Christian home school families, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday for registration followed by a presentation by Rich Hilgert, Citrus County School District coordinator of student services, at 6:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Lecanto. He will be available to answer any questions about home schooling in Citrus County. CCHEA will review the new year's projects, events and classes. Memberships forms will be available for new and returning members. To find Providence Baptist Church, coming from the east side of the county, take SR 44 west to Maylen (which is between Seven Rivers Presbyterian and Tile Contractors Supply) turn north, go one mile, turn west (left) on Sanction. The church will be on the right. Coming from the west side, take SR 44 to Maynard, turn north, bear right onto Sanction. Church will be on the left.
