LOOK AHEADAUG. 24: Greater New Port Richey Main Street will present "A Night in the Tropics" from 5 to 9 p.m. on Grand Boulevard between Main Street and Missouri Avenue. A Tampa steel drum band will provide entertainment. There will be swimwear modeling, a skateboard demonstration by Boards in Motion and a custom car cruise-in of more than 50 classic and muscle cars from the 1950s through '70s. Downtown restaurants will feature tropical island specials on their menus. AUG. 24: Two-time Grammy winner Rick Derringer (Hang on Sloopy, Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo), along with Pat Travers (Crash and Burn) and Damon Fowler will perform at Bourbon Street Concert Club, 4331 U.S. 19, New Port Richey. Doors open at 8 p.m., show at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. CURTAIN CALLSSUNDAY-MONDAY: The new Angel Cabaret Theatre in Southgate Shopping Center will hold auditions for musicals and plays for its upcoming season at 7 p.m. Sundayfor ages 7-15 years old and 7 p.m. Monday for adults. The auditions will be at the Studio of Performing Arts, Sunrise Plaza, 11720 U.S. 19, Port Richey. Those auditioning for musicals should bring a photo and resume, sheet music or CD or cassette (without vocal) and be prepared to dance and read from a script. Positions are paid.
