PORT RICHEY -- A 33-year-old man was arrested on a child neglect charge Wednesday after deputies said a 2-year-old child who was in his care fell into a pool.

Todd Alan Pingree of 6205 Eleanor Drive, Port Richey, left the girl unsupervised on Monday morning as he went to the bathroom, a deputy's report said. The girl fell into the pool, and when he found her, she was floating face down in the water, authorities said.

According to emergency workers, the girl was given CPR and started breathing, and was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg as a precaution. She was treated and released.

Deputies talked to two other children, who told them that Pingree "failed to properly care for the victim" in the past, according to a report.

Pingree was booked into the county jail in Land O'Lakes and was released on $2,500 bail on Wednesday.
