    Escapee sentenced to 3 years

LARGO -- A man who escaped from the Pinellas County Jail earlier this year has been sentenced to three years in state prison. Joshua Feyes, 18, escaped from a minimum-security facility April 5. Officials think he escaped about 5:20 p.m. that day after he was let into a recreation yard. No one realized he was missing until about six hours later, officials said. The yard is surrounded by a chain-link fence that is about 4 feet tall but is not equipped with razor wire. Feyes, who was being held on charges of dealing in stolen property, was captured at his girlfriend's house about 12 hours after his escape. Sheriff's officials still haven't determined how Feyes escaped. The case remains under investigation, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Greg Tita said Friday. Feyes pleaded no contest to charges of escape and dealing in stolen property, then received concurrent three-year sentences for the charges.

    Crash critically injures woman

CLEARWATER -- A Largo woman was in critical condition after a single-car crash Friday morning that police believe may be alcohol-related. Chloe Laura Wyant, 26, of 200 Country Club Drive was driving south on Edgewater Drive when she lost control near Marine Street about 4:30 a.m., Clearwater police said. Wyant's 1998 Nissan struck a palm tree. She was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where she was listed in critical condition Friday evening.
