Seniors event offers fun, health screenings

Seniors Are Someone Special Year-Round, or SASSY, is offering free entertainment, educational information and health screenings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gulf View Square Mall, Port Richey.

Seniors Are Someone Special Year-Round, or SASSY, is offering free entertainment, educational information and health screenings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gulf View Square Mall, Port Richey.

Entertainment by Show Time Productions will feature Stan Princeton, Mikki Taylor, Star, Maria Coccaro, Short Notice Duo, Bob and Sue and ballroom dancing demonstrations by the American Ballroom Academy.

Health screenings will be provided by Trinity Outpatient and include total cholesterol, HDL, glucose, lipid profile and lipid profile plus glucose, which requires fasting.

Information for seniors includes senior living, entertainment, cancer, internal medicine, fashion and financial.

A gift basket from Thinking of You Gift Baskets will be awarded, along with other special prizes.

Health care representative to address women's group

Women in Networking, or WIN, will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Ramada Inn, 5015 U.S. 19, New Port Richey.

Donna Bromley, silver distributor of Nikken products, will discuss benefits of magnetic health care and living water.

WIN is a group of Pasco businesswomen. The group meets for breakfast on the third Tuesday of the month. Prospective members are welcome. Annual dues are $5. Enrollment for 2001 is now open. For information, call Linda McFarland at 863-6151.

Sweet Adelines to meet; wants to add 10 singers

The Suncoast Harmony Chapter of Sweet Adelines International is sponsoring a Get-To-Know-Us Reception at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Gulf High School chorus room, 5355 School Road, New Port Richey.

Membership currently totals 31. An additional 10 singers are being sought.

Cindy LaPorte, membership chairwoman, said, "We are seeking all vocal ranges. Although prior musical training is not a prerequisite, a love of harmony is a must." LaPorte said that during the day the members of Suncoast Harmony are teachers, physicians, Realtors, mothers and wives.

"On Tuesday evenings at rehearsals, they are singers and enjoy the friendship of their fellow musicians" she said. Members come from all areas of Pasco and Hernando counties, and carpooling is always available. The award-winning chorus has a young director certified in a cappella artform.

Holiday VFW post to host dinner-dance Tuesday

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Holiday Post 10167 is hosting a dinner-dance at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the post home, 4619 Bartelt Road, Holiday.
