Focus on volunteers

The Pinellas Animal Foundation, 10825 Seminole Blvd., Building A, Unit 3, will hold a volunteer meeting at 6:30 tonight. For registration, call Joan Marzi, 398-5128.

The St. Petersburg office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 9455 Koger Blvd., Suite 100, needs volunteers to help with the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, Sept. 2-3. The national telethon will air locally on WFTS-Ch. 28. Volunteer duties include answering telephones, distributing posters and working on mailings before the telethon airs.

The association also needs volunteers to help year-round. Positions include visiting people who are homebound as well as helping with fundraising events. For information, call the St. Petersburg Muscular Dystrophy office, 577-4509.

Sunken Gardens, 1825 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg, needs volunteers to help with children's activities, wildlife care, general gardening and special events. For information, call Sunken Gardens, 551-3103.

The Florida Botanical Garden at the Pinellas County Cooperative Extension Service, 12175 125th St. N, Largo, needs volunteers to help with clerical duties. For information, call Jean Field, 582-2016.

The Pinellas Park Library, 7770 52nd St. N, has an outreach program that provides books to those who are homebound. Volunteers are needed two to three hours each month to deliver books. For information, call Gary Bogart, 541-0719.
