Deployment

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Carter D. Taliaferro, son of Brooke and Joel Taliaferro of Treasure Island, has left Naval Air Station Jacksonville on a six-month deployment to Sigonella, Italy.

Taliaferro completed boot camp at Great Lakes (Illinois) Naval Training Center in October and completed aviation electrician school with academic honors in April.

He was promoted to his present rank after completing P-3 airplane training.

A 1997 Center Academy graduate, he earned a degree in diesel mechanics from the Diesel Institute of America in Tampa in 1999.

Promotion

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Edward L. Davidson Jr., son of Emma Baynard and Edward Davidson Sr. of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his current rank in June and assigned to the U.S. Southern Command in Arlington, Va.

Davidson is a 1999 graduate of Lakewood High School.
