Dunedin thrashes Vero Beach

DUNEDIN -- Tyler Thompson went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI as the Blue Jays pounded the Vero Beach Dodgers 10-2.

Matt Logan had three hits and two runs scored for Dunedin.

Reliever Eric Place gave up two runs in four innings of relief to get the win. Hugo Castellanos pitched the final three innings for the save.

ST. PETERSBURG 5, SARASOTA 4 (11): The visiting Devil Rays rallied twice, scoring three in the seventh and one in the eighth before winning in extra innings. The Red Sox went from a run down to a run ahead with a two-run seventh. St. Petersburg tied it on centerfielder Tony Pigott's run-scoring double. Three innings later, Andrew Beinbrink's single delivered Steven Goodson with the winning run. Pitcher Jason Pruett earned the win, allowing no runs in the final three innings.

FORT MYERS 4, CLEARWATER 2: Adam Johnson pitched 62/3 shutout innings and struck out 12 to lead the visiting Miracle. Juan Lorenzo went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Mike Restovich had a hit and an RBI for Fort Myers. Grant Balfour pitched 11/3 scoreless innings for the save.
