PINEGROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: The Hernando County Sheriff's Office will present the canine unit to students from 9:10 to 11:55 a.m. Wednesday in the multipurpose room. The presentation will show how dogs are used in drug detection. Also, this is an early dismissal day, and school will be over at 1:10 p.m.

HERNANDO HIGH SCHOOL: Open house will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday. All parents are invited to attend. For information, call Jane Lee Padgett, 797-7015, ext. 402.

SPRINGSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL: Open house, 6:30 p.m. today in the gym. For information, call 797-7010. A public giveaway of textbooks and media material will be from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the School Distribution Center, 8050 Mobley Road, Brooksville. Bring your own bags to carry books. All books are free. For information, call 797-7060.
