Violin -- Ellen dePasquale, violin, and Chadd Merrigan, piano, play Beethoven, Schubert, Faure and Ysaye on Sept. 2 at the Museum of Fine Arts. $7 and $15.
Thurber -- Gorilla Theatre's staging of A Thurber Carnival, adapted from stories and cartoons of James Thurber, opens Sept. 6. $14 and $17.
New -- Dog & Pony Productions makes its debut Sept. 7-23 with The Sea Horse by Edward J. Moore in Shimberg Playhouse at TBPAC. $15.50.
Laramie -- The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman opens Sept. 7 in a Stageworks production at Hillsborough Community College in Ybor City. $7-$15.
Tap -- There are two shows of Tap Dogs Sept. 15 at Van Wezel Hall. $35-$45.
Choral -- Florida Pro Musica, conducted by Larry Kent, performs Renaissance madrigals plus works of Byrd and Palestrina on Sept. 16 at Largo Cultural Center. $5-$10.
Hurston -- Zora Neale Hurston's Spunk is at American Stage from Sept. 21 through Oct. 14. $20-$30.
India -- The Indian Classical Music Society presents Rakesh Chaurasia, flute, Rahul Sharma, santoor, and Shaafat Ahmed Khan, tabla, at the University of South Florida on Sept. 28. $10.
