ST. PETERSBURG -- Talks with top draft pick Dewon Brazelton came to a standstill Wednesday night.
But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
The Rays made what may have been their final pitch during a negotiating session that lasted well past midnight Tuesday, and were somewhat optimistic. They were waiting Wednesday night for a response from Brazelton adviser Bo McKinnis, and that apparently had not been finalized as of early this morning.
The Rays are believed to have offered Brazelton, the third overall pick, a major-league contract and a package worth more than $4-million spread over five years.
