A: This is a fun bunch of guys to coach. There is a lot of enthusiasm, good athletes and good attitudes. They are all in pretty good shape, especially the wide receivers and defensive backs. The offensive line is about like most freshmen, but they are in pretty good shape. They've worked hard during Summer B. These freshmen will help out the team this year, a lot of them.
Q : The Southeastern Conference used to be a running league. With so many more SEC teams installing passing offenses, has it gotten harder to throw the ball?
A: It's a lot different. It used to be pretty easy pitching the ball around in 1990 and '91 because nobody pitched it around much. But times change, the defenses change. It's more difficult to throw the ball up and down the field now, but it can still certainly be done.
Q : Florida State coach Bobby Bowden has said his coaches start preparing for the Gators as much as three weeks before the game. Will you start to prepare for FSU sooner?
A: We need to maybe talk more about them than in years past. We're playing SEC teams those couple weeks before the FSU game, but maybe we need to concentrate on them a little more, have them in the back of our minds.
